Hi, I'm Amy from Cherokee Washington High School in Iowa. This is my second year coaching high school FTC as a club. I really have no idea how to build anything but I do know that the FTC community is very nice to work with. The other coaches and students were very helpful with my group last year and we enjoyed it but we are wandering aimlessly right now.

Hi. This is Rebecca. I reside in Medina County Ohio. My son started a youth center about 5 years ago (when he was in high school). He "found" FIRST and excelled at it. Then the silly guy went and grew up on me. Did exactly what I wanted, went off to college leaving me running the center by myself. All kidding aside, I am thrilled to be able to offer FIRST programs from preschool through senior in high school. LOVE FIRST! I believe that every child in the world should have the opportunity to experience FIRST. I am not very techy. So I struggle feeling like I am doing an ok job as a coach because it sounds like the kids are speaking greek to me! So I am hoping that this training will help me 'speak their language' a little better at this level. Also, I do aspire to eventually add FRC to our programming because I never want kids to get bored with FIRST. It should always inspire them to continue to grow. So please bare with me when I get lost or confused. :)

HI, I am Uschi Leslie and I coach FLL Challenge at a Middle School in Victoria, BC. We've had teams for the past 6 years, but this year I haven't even had the chance to tell the parents that FLL exists.... I hope that will change soon.

Hi!

I am from Bend, OR, and I work at Camp Fire Central Oregon. I am coaching four FLL teams, and it's my first time ever as a coach. Crazy, right? :D

So still almost everything to learn. We'll see how it goes!

Hi, I'm Peter from the Six Nations Polytechnic STEAM Academy. We are brand hew to this - we are an FRC team and are teaching a robotics course to grade 9 students starting November 23. The Covid-format for our course is a little over two hours per day (afternoons) with three days on-campus and three days online in rotation through the course. We have not yet received the classroom kits but expect to get them imminently. (We are getting equivalent kits cobbled together by Studica Robotics since the actual kits are unavailable until January, I hear.)

Our FRC team has competed one year though we also competed and won in two off-season events. This is the limit of our experience. We are beginning to provision our robotics lab, have some tools and have use of a CNC Router and 3D Printer as well.

My goal is to get our students introduced to design using OnShape then to move forward to building something that moves under student control. We had lots of help from mentor FRC teams to get our first FRC robot built (largely our of wood) and expect that we need similar supports to learn the FTC environment. Unlike the grade 9 students enrolled in the robotics course, we have some FRC Java programming experience and perhaps this can help get things going on the FTC side.

Hi Lisa from San Antonio. This is my 6th year coaching 4th and 5th graders. We often have to start over with basically a whole new group each year. It can be tough! This year is going to be all new kids and we are trying to figure out how to do it with some still virtual. Crazy fun times!
